Agroforestry Program
Pend Oreille Conservation District is launching a new Agroforestry Technical Assistance Program to support landowners and producers who want to integrate trees, shrubs, and perennial systems into working lands.
This program is designed to improve:
- Farm and forest resilience
- Soil health and water quality
- Wildlife habitat and pollinator resources
- Long-term agricultural productivity
- Climate and drought adaptation
Through this effort, POCD will eventually provide planning, site visits, education, and project development support for agroforestry practices across Pend Oreille County.
Program Timeline
Winter – Spring 2026
POCD is currently:
- Conducting outreach and education
- Meeting with interested landowners
- Collecting site information
- Identifying priority projects
Beginning Summer 2026 (after June)
We will begin:
- On-site technical assistance visits
- Conservation planning for selected properties
- Project development and implementation as funding allows
