Shoreline Stabilization Program

Overview

To address water quality issues caused by soil erosion, The Pend Oreille Conservation District is working with partners to offer technical and financial resources for landowners to implement approved best management practices. For more details on the process, check out our:

Before...                                          After.

Technical Resources

1.) START HERE

The Shoreline Stabilization Guide's principles apply to almost all erosion projects in Pend Oreille County. From permit requirements, to specific techniques needed to slow erosion, the information in this PDF can bring any landowner up to speed on what they need to address erosion on their property.

2.) Next, get a site plan.

A site plan is the technique you need to stabilize your bank, drawn up specific to your project site's measurements and conditions. Landowners may create site plans themselves, hire private consultants & engineers to complete the task, or utilize design resources available through POCD.

3.) Do you need a Permit or Cultural Resource Review?

Your site plan may require a cultural resource review and /or shoreline permit application. POCD and staff at the Pend Oreille County Community Development Office are available to assist with these steps. See our permitting and cultural resource flow chart for details.
