Cost Share Programs

What is Cost Share?
How would you like to start a conservation project on your land, and have a friend pay for part of it? This is what our Cost Share Programs are all about. If you are planning to start a conservation project designed to have a positive effect on water quality, wildlife habitats, or replanting, give us a call. We would love to come out and see what you're planning, and give you an idea if we can help you. If we have money available, we'll help pay for part of the project. Our Board of Supervisors must approve your project before you start.

POINT (Pend Oreille Implementation Non-point Treatment) Phase II

This is grant addresses actual practices to reduce non-point pollution on streams identified under previous water quality monitoring programs. The POCD is assisted by the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to develop best management practices (BMPs). These practices can be costshared under this grant as well as leveraging other agencies monies. The goal is to reduce the out-of-pocket expenses to landowners to install BMPs. These projects combined with natual resource educational opportunities lays a new foundation for working with small- and large-acreage landowners in the most developed areas of our county.

USDA/Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) Programs Since we are fortunate enough to share office space with our federal partners, we are usually up to speed on the conservation programs offered through NRCS. Programs like the Wetland Reserve, Environmental Quality Incentive and Forestry Incentive Program applications can be submitted here at the Newport NRCS/field office. For more information about NRCS in Pend Oreille County you can call Mark Simpson at (509) 447-4217
